Our regular hours are 8:15 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. During
the regular school year, we're also open on select Saturdays from 9:00

When may I visit the campus?
The best time to get a firsthand look at Barton is during one of our
Open Houses, which we hold
throughout the school year. Private tours are also available between
9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
on select Saturdays. To schedule a private visit, contact the Admissions
Office at 1-800-345-4973 or your admissions counselor.
Does Barton accept Advanced Placement credit or International Baccalaureate Diploma courses?
Yes! Both AP and IB classes are accepted for credit at Barton. To be
exempt from any class, you must score a 3 or better on the AP exam. If
you're enrolled in IB classes, you may also be granted advanced credit
according to the score received. (Please refer to our catalog for
specific information concerning AP and IB testing and placement.)
What is the student-teacher ratio at Barton?
It all depends on the level of the course. General college classes
typically have a student-teacher ratio of about 22:1. But once you begin
taking classes in your major, the ratio drops to about 12:1.
What about health care at Barton?
If you become ill or need medical assistance, a campus nurse is
available in the Lee Student Health Center. The Health Center is open
from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and until 5:00 p.m.
on Fridays. Twice a week, the Health Center is also staffed by a nurse
practitioner from a local medical practice.
What are the Residence Halls like?
The campus houses five residence halls: four co-ed facilities and one
all-female residence hall. The amenities are generally the same for all
residence halls and include air conditioning, Internet access, separate
telephone line, basic cable, washer and dryer facilities, and balconies.
Do I have to live on campus?
All freshman and sophomores are required to live on campus, unless
you're commuting from your parent's home. (Freshman and sophomore
commuters must be approved through the Dean of Students.) As a junior or
senior, you're welcome to move off campus if you choose. However, East
Campus Suites provides apartment-style living with the convenience (and
savings!) of being on campus.
Can freshman have cars?
Yes. All students may have cars. Each vehicle must be registered with
Campus Police.
Do I have to buy a meal plan?
Yes. As a resident student, you must purchase a meal plan, but there are
several plans to choose from. We also offer plans that work in
conjunction with Bully's, our campus grill.
What type of computer should I bring with me?
You can bring either a PC or Macintosh computer. Both will work in the
residence halls.
