DISCIPLE SCHOLARSHIPS

Barton students who are members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) may be eligible for significant scholarships.

The Disciple Student Leadership Scholarship
Award: up to $2500.00 per year
Preference is given to a qualified student who is a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

The C.B. Mashburn Endowed Scholarship is awarded to full-time Barton students demonstrating academic and leadership ability. Preference is given to a student majoring in religion and philosophy.

The Division of Higher Education of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) offers scholarships to members of the Christian Church attending Barton. Applications, which are due in March each year, are available through the Office of Financial Aid and the Chaplain's Office.

The National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) offers scholarships to qualified Disciples members who are enrolled as full-time students at Barton. To qualify, you must have:

  • A 3.0 grade point average,
  • SAT or ACT scores above the national average, and
  • A major in an NBA-related field of study.
Following graduation from college, for each year you work at an NBA facility (with full salary and benefits), one year of the grant will be forgiven. Deadline for application is February 15 of each year.

The Ministerial Award is given to an unmarried, dependent child (under 23 years of age), a spouse of an active, full-time minister, or a member of the professional staff of the Division of Higher Education of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Award: up to $2,400.00 per year.
Renewal is based on financial need as determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Students engaging in the study of religion are eligible for a number of endowed and institutional scholarships. Information is available from the Chair of the Department of Religion and Philosophy.
